Selections from “Ritual”
A body of work that examines the intersection of seduction, mysticism, and performance. Surrounding herself with constructed still life moments, Rowan's self-portraits play on the idea of ancient fertility rites and harken the veiled eroticism of vintage burlesque performers. This project explores the connection between mating rituals, sexuality, and power within the context of domestic relationships. The images were shot 4x5 color film to achieve a lush, timeless feeling with these photos.
